55 Infantry Division Troops to Erect One More House to Nelliady Family

The Security Force HQ-Jaffna, dedicated to the security and well-being of Jaffna civilians received one more stimulant for its house-construction projects for needy civilians in the peninsula when one Rev. MS Chinnaiah and Ms Thabitha Chinnaiah in memory of their father, Mr Joy Arulrajah, offered their generous sponsorship through the 'Vanni Aids' organization and Canada-based Major General R. Rathnasingham (Retd) for the construction of one more house in Nelliady.

Accordingly, 55 Infantry Division troops of the Security Force HQ- Jaffna laid another cornerstone for building a new house for a deserving family residing in Nelliyadi on Wednesday (July 05) as per guidelines given by Major General M.K.U.P Gunarathna RSP ndu psc IG, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division and Major General S.K.R Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, SF-J.

Troops having observed the plight of Mrs Nallaiya Sudarshani single unemployed mother with 03 children who were living without a proper roof above them informed the Senior Officers of their living conditions, prompting the GOC, 55 Infantry Division to pursue the need with the 'Vanni Aids' through Canada-based Major General R. Rathnasingham (Retd). Further, Mrs Nallaiya Sudarshani was looking after the elderly grandmother of the children.

4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (4 SLSR) troops have undertaken the responsibility to provide the necessary manpower and technical expertise for the construction of the house. General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division graced the brief ceremony as the Chief Guest, along with Mr Alvaipillai Siri, Divisional Secretary for Point Pedro, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Point Pedro, Commander, 551 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier S.J Kariyakarawana RWP RSP USP, Mr N Jeganadan, the representative of 'Vanni Aids' (Canada), Government Officials, Other invitees, Other Ranks and civilians attended the inaugural event.
