In response to a request of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for replenishment of blood stocks, needed for seriously ill patients, a group of more than 120 Army troops of the 55 Division HQ of the Security Force HQ-Jaffna donated their blood to the hospital Blood Bank on Wednesday (2) during arrangements kept in place at the 552 Brigade HQ in Ayyakachchi, Jaffna.
Organized as per guidelines given by Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, the 552 Brigade troops on the instructions of their Brigade Commander, Brigadier Ruwan Munipura and the General Officer Commanding, 55 Division Brigadier Prasanna Gunarathne made all necessary arrangements in close coordination with the medical staff at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
All facilities including refreshments were made available to the medical team, led by doctors and nurses by those troops, taking maximum precautions against COVID 19 pandemic.
