Following sponsorship, extended by the UK-based Sweshini Organization, 542 Brigade troops of the 54 Division HQ recently donated dry ration packs to some 45 selected low income group families in Ihala Vijayagama, Kondachchi area as another welfare activity to uplift standards of low income families in the village.
The funds were made available through the close coordination of Mr Ravi Rajapaksha. The event was organized and coordinated by 542 Brigade and 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 54 Division, Major General Darshana Wijesekara on the guidelines given by the Commander, Security Forces- Wanni, Major General Hemantha Bandara. All relief packets were taken to their doorsteps adhering to health guidelines.
Colonel Coordination of the 54 Division, Colonel Jagath Premadasa, Civil Affairs Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Amitha Mangala, Commanding Officer, 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major Sarath Keerthirathne, Senior Officers and several Officers attended the programme as well.
