54 Infantry Division’s New GOC Begins His Office

Major General G.W.A Seneviratne USP psc of the Sri Lanka Engineers assumed duties as the 12th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 54 Infantry Division amidst military formalities and religious blessings at the 54 Infantry Division's Headquarters in Thalladi, Mannar on Tuesday (04 July 2023).

The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout at the entrance soon after his arrival there. Afterwards, the new GOC in his new office placed his signature in a formal document and symbolized the official acceptance of the new appointment.

Moments later, he was invited to plant a sapling in the HQ premises as a symbol of memory before he addressed All Ranks and set out his work plan for the future.

Senior Officers including Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and under command troops were present at the occasion.
