Major General Shanaka Rathnayaka, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 53 Infantry Division made his first visit to the 532 Infantry Brigade in Sadunpuraon Monday (28) after his recent assumption of office as the new GOC, 53 Infantry Division.
The GOC was warmly welcomed by Brigadier Sumal Wikramasekara, Commander, 532 Infantry Brigade (RSF) and greeted in a drive-past Guard Turnout at the entrance by 8 Gajaba Regiment troops.
Later, he was invited to plant a sandalwood sapling to mark his arrival in the camp. Afterwards, he addressed the troops and took time off to gift parcels of school accessories to 18 soldiers and 08 civil employees who have schooling children.
All the Brigade HQ staff and Commanding Officers of under-command battalions participated in the event.
