With the intention of encouraging under-privileged students at Madduvil Saraswathi Vidyalaya in Chavakachcheri for studies, 523 Brigade troops of the 52 Division with the support of civil donors recently organized a programme to donate school accessories to them.
The programme saw 152 students were given those incentives, sponsored by Mrs Iranganee Peiris, the former Chief of Human Resource Centre of the Mahaweli Authority and her colleagues.
Major General S.S Waduge, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division as the Chief Guest, together with 523 Brigade Commander, 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Commanding Officer, Major K.T.D.S Kalansooriya joined the occasion.
