Brigadier Udaya Herath of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment assumed office on Monday (14) as the 28th General Officer Commanding of the 52 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna.
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 52 Division was warmly welcomed by the Staff Officers of the Division Headquarters before he was greeted to a Guard Turnout by troops of the 15 (V) Gajaba Regiment. Afterwards, Brigadier Udaya Herath in his new office signed an official document signifying the acceptance of his new office and sat for a group photograph.
Subsequently, Brigadier Udaya Herath was invited to plant a Mango sapling in HQ premises before he rose to address both Officers and Other Ranks. An All Rank tea followed before the day’s proceedings ended.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the Headquarters 52 Division, Commanding Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
Brigadier Udaya Herath prior to this appointment served as the Director, Concept and Monitoring in Army Training Command.
