A friendly volleyball match between 'Kachchai Kings' and 'Meesalai Ayankaran' volleyball teams got underway at the 52 Division's volleyball court in Mirusavil, Jaffna on Saturday (5) as a gesture of goodwill and cooperation between Security Forces and young sportsmen and players in the area.
The 'Meesalai Ayankaran' Volleyball team clinched the championship, beating the 'Kachchai Kings' Volleyball Team after a close tussle. Both teams were awarded trophies and cash prizes at the end of the match.
It was organized under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Major General Sanjeewa Fernando, together with Officers and Other Ranks of the 52 Division HQ in an attempt to promote sports and goodwill. Major General Sanjeewa Fernando witnessed the match as the Chief Guest.
The generous sponsorship for this project was provided by the Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC with the coordination of Lieutenant Colonel E.D.M Jayakantha, Civil Affairs Officer of the 52 Division.
The Additional District Secretary Mr M Pradeepan, ASP Chavakachcheri, Mr Jarul Mohammed, staff officers of the 52 Division, Commanding Officers, OIC of the Kodikamam Police Station, Grama Niladari officials of respective areas, young volleyball fans and Other Ranks witnessed the match.
