A considerable gathering of Army personnel serving the 513 Brigade, 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), 16 (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch, and civilians in the general area came forward to donate their blood for patients receiving treatment at Thelippalai government hospital in the Jaffna peninsula after the Blood bank authorities turned to the Army for assistance.
Accordingly, more than 84 pints of blood were collected by the blood bank during this humanitarian project. Colonel Mohammed Raazick, 513 Brigade Commander with the blessings of the 51 Division and the Jaffna SF Commander took the initiative in this regard on Saturday (20). Dr. R.M. Guru and the staff of the Blood Bank at Thelippalai arranged the event as the Blood Bank has been running short of blood.
