51 Infantry Division troops of the Security Force HQ - Jaffna with the intention of promoting goodwill and reconciliation between the Security Forces and Jaffna cricketers organized a friendly cricket tournament during Feb 18-19 at the 51 Infantry Division playground in Kopay, Jaffna.
An Army team of cricketers participated in the tournament where five civil cricket teams joined hands to vie in the tournament.
After competing in the preliminary rounds, the Kondavil Marumalarchi Cricket team and the Fun Brothers' Cricket team qualified for the finals.
The Kondavil Marumalarchi Cricket team scored 79 runs for 7 wickets against the Fun Brothers' Cricket team who were all out for 60 runs giving the championship win to the Kondavil Marumalarchi Cricket team.
Major General Wajira Welagedara, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division watched the final tussle as the chief guest and awarded certificates and trophies to the participants. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were among the large crowd of spectators.
The following players were specially commended for their individual performances.
