Major General Mahendra Fernando who recently assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Division in Kopay, Jaffna under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna paid courtesies to several religious dignitaries and administrators in the peninsula on Wednesday (12).
He at first called on the Chief Incumbent at Sri Naga Vihara International Buddhist Centre, Jaffna and received blessings from the chief incumbent, Venerable Meegahajandure Siriwimala Nayake Thero. Afterwards, he called on Rt. Reverend Dr. Justin B Gnanapragasam, the Bishop of Jaffna.
Later on, Major General Mahendra Fernando called on the Head of Nallai Adheenam Sri Lal Sri Somasundara Gnanasambhantha Paramachariya Swamigal at Nallai Thirugnanasambandar Adheenam. On the same day, the Commander, 51 Division met the Jaffna District Secretary Government Mr. Kanapathipillai Mahesan and the Divisional Secretary for Jaffna Mr. S Sutharsan.
