51 Division troops of the Security Force HQ - Jaffna coordinated and distributed more than 225 dry ration packs among needy families in Ilawalai, Pandathirippu, Chullipuram, Wadukoddai and Manipay areas on Friday (18) after sponsorship to this effect was provided by friends of retired Major General Ravi Rathnasingham living in Canada and the owner of Murugan Trading Company in Kurunegala, Mr S. Suresh.
The relief project was conducted under the supervision of Major General Deepal Pussella, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division and on the guidelines given by Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander Security Forces-Jaffna. It was meant to ease low income families of their hardships and difficulties due to prevailing COVID - 19 pandemic in the area.
Brigadier Mohomad Fariz, Commander, 513 Brigade, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 16 Gemunu Watch, respective Grama Niladari officials and Public Health Inspectors joined the programme after visiting doorsteps of all those recipients.
