51 Division HQ Practises 'Sharing & Caring' on X-mas Day as Santa Claus Gifts Students

The 51 Division HQ in Jaffna under the Security Force HQ-Jaffna practising the sentiments of X-mas for 'sharing and caring' on the Christmas day (25) with sponsorship, provided by several philanthropists, connected to the 51 Division's General Officer Commanding, Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, took steps to distribute 150 pairs of school shoes after symbolically gifting those shoes to 50 students at the 51 Division HQ as the first phase of the project.

The remainder of 100 pairs of shoes were distributed among students, resident in 512 Brigade, 513 Brigade and 515 Brigade area through respective Brigade Commanders after inviting deserving students and families to those HQs. The 51 Division HQ in accordance with the 'Army Way Forward Strategy 2020-2025' of the Commander of the Army is in the practice of launching Civil Military Cooperation (CMIC) projects every month with the support of donors and philanthropists.

Selected students in Selvapuram, Yogapuram and Kopay areas along with their parents who arrived at respective locations to receive those sentiments expressed their gratitude to the Sri Lanka Army for assisting them to upgrade educational standards.

At the request of the GOC, Mallika Hemachandra Jewellers Pvt Ltd, Mr Dammika Indrasiri, Mrs Madu Senarathna and Colonel Shirantha Millagala offered their combined sponsorship for purchase of those shoes.

Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe and Mrs Priyanka Wickramasinghe, their family members and staff officers of the Division participated in the inaugural ceremony at the 51 Division HQ sticking to health procedures.
