5 Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) troops at the request of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital authorities repaired 35 wheelchairs that remained unused at the hospital and delivered them back after necessary repairs were effected on Sunday (16 April).
At the request of the Hospital Director, Major General C. D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, Commander Security Forces-Wanni took the initiative in this connection since the hospital was short of proper wheelchairs.
Those wheelchairs of unserviceable nature were repaired by 5 SLEME troops within a few days and delivered back to the hospital. The Commanding Officers of 5 SLEME, 3 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and several Officers and Other Ranks participated in the occasion.
