The traditional 'Katina' Pooja in the historic Tissa Raja MahaVihara in Kankesanthurai was held on Saturday (13) with the participation of Maha Sangha in the presence of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna, devotees and military personnel.
The religious event was supported by troops of the 5 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps under the guidance of Major General Wanditha Mahinkanda, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area -North. The climax of the whole religious festival took place early morning after the Katina Cheevaraya was brought in procession.
The religious programme concluded with alms-giving and offering of 'Atapirikara' to Bhikkus and Katinanisansa sermon by the chief incumbent of the Amarapura Sri Kalyanawansha Maha Nikaye Anushasaka Ven Ambalangoda VajirgnagnaThero.
