4 SLLI Troops Volunteer Constructing New Home to Fellow Workmate

Troops of the 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (4 SLLI), located at Dambulla, using their technical and engineering expertise erected a new house for one of their workmates in the regiment in Wariyapola after the beneficiary succeeded in collecting his own raw materials, needed for the entire completion of the house.

The project was conducted under the guidance of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI and Chief of Staff of the Army under the close supervision of Lieutenant Colonel W. D. D. R Weerapura, Commanding Officer, 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry.

The beneficiary who could not afford to bear construction charges turned to the Commanding Officer - 4 SLLI and the Colonel of the Regiment in search of manpower and technical assistance.

The new house completed within a few weeks was warmed on Sunday (20) by Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku at the invitation of the Commanding Officer - 4 SLLI during a simple ceremony, attended by family members and the beneficiary. The day's Chief Guest unveiled a plaque, cut a ribbon and handed over keys to the beneficiary symbolically after inaugural rites and rituals were observed.
