4 SLLI on Anniversary Day Invokes Blessings

The 4 Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) celebrated its 36th anniversary on Friday (5) at its HQ in Dambulla with several events.

The anniversary programme began with religious observances at Temple of the Tooth Relic, Matale Sri Muththu Amman Hindu Kovil, and St.Anthony’s Church at Wahakotte, prior to the anniversary day where blessings were invoked.

On the anniversary Day, a ceremonial Guard Turnout was presented to the Commanding Officer of 4 SLLI, Lieutenant Colonel W.D.D.R Weerapura. Afterwards, the Commanding Officer customarily addressed troops and joined an All Rank lunch.

4 SLLI Regiment was established on 5th May 1987 and the troops of 4 SLLI actively participated in the three decades of war in Sri Lanka. 21 Officers and 314 soldiers sacrificed their lives for defence of the sovereignty of the motherland.
