4 SLAMC Wins Softball Inter Regiment Cricket Tournament - 2014

4 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) won the softball 20/20 Inter Regiment novice Cricket Tournament Championship Trophy, organized by Sri Lanka Army Cricket Committee (SLACC) for the second consecutive year at Helipatha ground Kilinochchi on Sunday (31).

18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) won the trophy for the runners-up.

The tournament was competed by more than 2225 cricketers representing 205 teams from all units and regiments in the Army until it reached the final rounds.  

Meanwhile, 7 teams were selected from each Security Force Headquarters during the matches, held in the first round at Security Force Headquarter levels.

However, at the final game SLAMC won over 18 VIR cricketers.

Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna, Major General Ubaya Medawela, Chairman Army Cricket Board and Commander Security Force Headquarters - West and Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi delivered trophies and certificates among winners at the final ceremony, held at the same location  soon after the final match.

The tournament provides space to screen the best of the best out of those who competed who can be used in future encounters both of Army or National levels.
