45 needy families in Kiran area in Batticaloa on the Poson Full Moon day (24) received free dry ration packets following arrangements, made by 4 Gemunu Watch troops of the 231 Brigade in Batticaloa.
The project saw its fruition under the guidance of the Commander, 231 Brigade, Brigadier Vijitha Hettiarachchi, supervised by the Commanding Officer of 4 Gemunu Watch, Lieutenant Colonel L Jayasinghe. Those packs, sponsored by donors in the area, were distributed by GW troops after selecting most deserving families in consultation with respective Grama Seva officials since travel restrictions have deprived them of their sources of income.
Those dry ration packs included rice, dhal, sprats, spices, cererals, milk powder and other varieties, needed for preparation of daily meals. SFHQ-East and the 23 Division HQ have given their blessings to the project.
