231 Infantry Brigade troops of the 23 Infantry Division in Punani under the Security Force HQ-East in compliance with the government’s Dengue Prevention Programme carried out a project to clean Batticaloa and Manmunai towns on Tuesday (16 May).
Troops of the 4 Gemunu Watch (GW) and 11 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) in coordination with Batticaloa office of the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) conducted the task in Batticaloa and Manmunai towns as per guidelines given by their respective Commanding Officers.
Similarly, those troops with Public Health Inspectors of offices of MOH Batticaloa and Manmunai,10 Police officers of Batticaloa and Manmunai Police Stations, more than 55 volunteers joined hands together to make the programme a success.
The project was carried out following instructions of the Directorate of Operations and also under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General S.A. Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc.
During this programme, places were inspected for possible mosquito breeding locations and people around the same time were advised to keep their gardens clean and tidy. Public Health Inspectors 10 red notices were also issued to houses during the programme.
