A contingent of 3 (V) Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 613 Infantry Brigade of the 61 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - West at the request of residents in Beragama (East) and Beragama (West) Grama Niladari Divisions in the Mulatiyana Divisional Secretariat in Matara district cleaned three polluted drinking water wells of civilians during 15 - 16 May.
All those three wells became highly polluted after recent floods and contaminated water that brought the area under water for several days. It deprived those residents of drinking water and compelled them to fetch water from other places.
On the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces-West, 3 (V) GW troops under the guidelines given by the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division and Brigade Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade along with the Civil Affairs Officer of the 613 Infantry Brigade went to the locations and cleaned all three wells with the support of residents in the area.
