Troops of the 3 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of the 122 Brigade of 12 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - Central, swiftly rushed to extinguish a fast-spreading wildfire in the general forest area of Morawaka Keerama, Mapiti Kanda on Saturday (24).
Under the directions of Major General Lanka Amarapala, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division, Commanding Officer, 3 SLNG, Lieutenant Colonel S.Y Srimal with his troops took steps to control the fire within a few hours.
The bushfire has spread over an extent of 30 acres and the troops without causing any damage brought the situation under control.
