3 SLAOC Troops Collect Their Maiden Paddy Harvest

Reaping of the maiden paddy harvest, grown by 3 Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) troops of Forward Maintenance Area (East), using organic fertilizer at Hingurakgoda took place on Friday (21), adhering to ancient rites and rituals.

As advised by the Commander of the Army, those troops launched the project some 4 months ago after tilling the marshy land of about 5 acres in extent inside the camp compound and prepared the soil before paddy was sown in consultation with the Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock at the Army HQ.

The Commanding Officer, Major W.D.P.K Withana of 3 SLAOC attended as the Chief Guest at the harvesting ceremony where inaugural traditions were followed before all stepped into the fields for harvesting.

Several Officers and Other Ranks also joined the occasion.
