2,646 New Cases Reported in Last 24 Hours - NOCPCO

As of this morning (8), a total of 2,646 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Among them were 2 foreigners and 34 Sri Lankan expatriates. The rest were locally-identified positive cases, including the majority 444 from Gampaha District, 414 from Colombo District, 392 from Ratnapura District and 1360 from different other Districts, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By this morning (8), a total of 207,978 persons, have been confirmed positive to COVID-19 from all over the country, including the dead. Among them, 110,612 were reported after the New Year.

By Tuesday (8) morning (past 24 hours), 2,214 recovered patients have left Intermediate Care Centers and Hospitals. No death has been reported in the past 24 hours.

By Tuesday (8) morning, 273 persons have left 18 QCs. As of this morning (8), 5,927 persons in 53 hotels and tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine.

By this morning (8) at the time this communiqué was released, 77 isolated GN Division areas released from isolation and 112 isolated GN areas remain unchanged and movement restrictions that have been enforced would continue.
