Civilians affected due to economic constraints at Wadimunai, Uththuchchinai and Kallachchi areas, thanks to an initiative of the Security Force HQ - East, were the recipients of free dry ration packets on Monday (03) with sponsorship extended by the 'Siyamcity Cement'(Pvt) Limited Company.
250 dry ration packs, each worth of Rs 6000/= were distributed among 250 low income group families during arrangements made by 12 Sri Lanka National Guard troops at the Uththuchchinai Tamil school premises in Uththuchchinai, Major General Priyantha Jayawardane, Commander, Security Forces - East gave guidelines for the project under the supervision of the 232 Brigade Commander.
Major General Priyantha Jayawardene, Commander, SF-E attended the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest and the project was coordinated by Venerable Ketakumbure Dharmarama Thero, Principal, Nalanda Buddhist School at Pallekale.
Major General Shewanth Kulathunge, General Officer Commanding, 23 Division, Colonel Priyashan Malwarage, Commander, 232 Brigade, Colonel Rajive Fernando, Chief Civil Coordinating Officer SFHQ-(East), Lieutenant Colonel Prabhath Halpage, Civil Coordinating Officer SFHQ-(E), Major Chandana Wanninayaka, Commanding Officer, 12 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard, Several Officers, Other ranks and representatives of the donor agency took part in the distribution ceremony.
