Troops of the 8 Sri Lanka National Guard of the 242 Brigade of the 24 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) took part in the distribution of dry ration packs among low income group families in Kanchirankudah village of Thirukkovil DS Division on 31 May 2021 in order to alleviate hardships of deserving people who are facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, affected by prevailing restriction of movements.
Bags of dry ration, each worth of Rs 2500.00 were distributed among 10 families under the programme.
Major General Chaminda Lamahewa, General Officer Commanding 24 Division, Brigadier Chandika Peiris, Commander 242 Brigade and Commanding Officer 8 Sri Lanka National Guard closely supervised the project.
