Through the sponsorship provided by an overseas-based philanthropist to the 241 Brigade HQ in Ampara, 16 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops of the 241 Brigade provided 4 water storage tanks to most deserving families, resident in Piyasaragama village in Maha Oya on Thursday (25).
Those families, affected badly due to shortage of drinking water were used to collect water from time to time since the supply of drinking water was not consistent to the area, Children in those families were the worst affected due to water shortage.
On being informed of this essential scarcity, Brigadier chandra Abeykoon, Commander, 241 Brigade with the blessings of the 24 Division’s General Officer Commanding and the SF-East Commander contacted his friends in the overseas and received patronage for purchase of those most wanted water tanks, each worth about Rs. 11,000/=
