24 Infantry Division’s R & R Musical Session Brings Joy

In an effort to boost morale, mental happiness and provide much-needed relaxation for troops in the 24 Infantry Division HQ, a special ‘Rest and Recreation’ (R&R) programme was launched by the Sri Lanka Army Band and the 18 VIjayabahu Infantry Regiment Beat Band in order to tap potential musical talents of the troops serving under 241, 242, 243 Infantry Brigades and at the 24 Infantry Division in Akkaraipattu, Arugambay, Batticaloa and Malwatta (Ampara) respectively.

The arrangement that took place during 4 - 6 September in specific locations was initiated on a suggestion made by Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division with the motive of raising mental happiness and screening potential music talents among troops serving under the 24 Infantry Division HQ.

More than 1000 soldiers at respective camps joined the arrangement and had a day of amusement and entertainment. Musicians in the Army band and 18 VIR beat band actively contributed to the conduct of these programmes. In addition, spouses and members of Army families in those areas also enjoyed together with their Army members at respective places.
