The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 24 Infantry Division, Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc after re-designing and renaming the 231 Infantry Brigade at Kallady, Batticaloa as the 243 Infantry Brigade undertook visits to the Brigade HQ and the 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment camp on Wednesday (12 July).
Upon arrival at the 243 Infantry Brigade, the visiting GOC was welcomed by the 243 Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier W.M.N.K.D Bandara RWP RSP USP psc. The day’s Chief Guest was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance and afterwards invited to plant a sapling in the compound as a symbol of memory to his first visit. At the 243 Infantry Brigade HQ, he received a briefing on the role and tasks of the area of responsibility under the Brigade. 243 Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier W.M.N.K.D Bandara RWP RSP USP psc presented the briefing.
At the end of his visit to the 243 Infantry Brigade HQ, the GOC proceeded to the 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment camp and spoke to them. He also left some complimentary remarks in the camp Visitors’ Book.
Several Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of 24 Infantry Division, 243 Infantry Brigade and 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment took part in those events.
