Brigadier Vipula Chandrasiri of the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) assumed duties as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 24 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East, amid religious blessings at the 24 Division Headquarters in Ampara on Sunday (1).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 24 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout, presented by troops as he entered the premises.
In his new office, the new GOC was invited to symbolically sign an official document to mark the assumption of his duties.
Afterwards, he symbolized the day’s event planting a sapling inside the camp premises.
Later on, the new GOC in line with military formalities, addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he expressed his vision for the Division in the future.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 24 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
Brigadier Vipula Chandrasiri, prior his new appointment, served as Deputy Vice Chancellor – Defence and Administration at Kotelawala Defence University.
