24 Division's New GOC Begins His Duties

Major General Thilak Weerakoon of Sri Lanka Artilerry Regiment assumed duties as the 7th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 24 Division in Ampara on Saturday (7).

In accordance with military traditions, Major General Thilak Weerakoon reviewed the Guard Turnout at the entrance and received the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by the troops of the 3 (Volunteer) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment after his arrival at the 24 Division.

The newly appointed GOC formally accepted his new appointment amidst religious observances and afterwards, planted a sapling at the Division HQ premises signifying inauguration of his office.
