24 Division Helps Construction of ‘Bodhi Prakaraya’ at Mahawapiya Temple in Ampara

The newly-constructed ‘Bodhi Prakaraya’ (protective wall) at Mahawapiya temple in Ampara was opened by Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding, 24 Division on Sunday (4) at the invitation of Ven Saranathissa Thero, incumbent monk at Mahawapiya temple in Ampara.

The ‘Bodhi Prakaraya’ and the surroundings in the ‘Bodhi Maluwa’was constructed by the troops of Corps of Engineer Service (CES) and the 16 (V) Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) of the 24 Division on the instructions of the Commander, Security Forces – East (SF-E), Major General Santhusitha Pannanwala under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding, 24 Division.

During the vote of thanks, the Chief Thero of temple, offered his special gratitude to the 24 Division for provision of professional technical assistance to sacred places in Ampara District.
