233 Infantry Brigade Troops Renovate 'Saraswathi' Preschool at Kathiraveli

233 Infantry Brigade troops of the 23 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - East (SFHQ-E) in another welfare programme renovated the 'Saraswathi' preschool building at Pudur, Kathiraveli and formally handed it over to the authorties during a simple ceremony on Sunday (13 Aug) under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division, Brigadier K.V.N.P Premarathne RSP USP psc and the Commander of 233 Infantry Brigade, Colonel A.K.C.S De Silva RSP.

The 'Saraswathi' preschool provides education to 41 kids in Pudur village. Despite it being managed by the Provincial Council, the preschool has faced significant challenges in acquiring essential resources, such as desks, tables, chairs, and proper sanitary facilities with water systems, building maintenance, and a functional kitchen with the intention of providing meals for needy kids.

After the requirements were brought to the notice of the 233 Infantry Brigade troops, quick measures were taken by the troops. Troops refurbished classrooms and its accessories and equipment, including all pieces of furniture. Further, the cornerstone was laid to erect a new kitchen, equipped with new cooking facilities, constructed by Corps of 3 Engineer Service Regiment troops who took charge of the renovation project with the financial assistance provided by a group of donors and well-wishers.

The General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, together with the Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade graced the occasion as the chief guest at the time of its formal handover. Gift packs were also distributed among the children during the event. Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Government Officials, Presidents of Rural Development Societies, teachers, parents, kids and parents were present during the simple occasion.
