233 Brigade HQ Opens New Facility Complex in Vakare for Both Civilians & Troops

A multi-facility complex, comprised of a mini food store, cafeteria and a hair-dressing saloon, erected by the 233 Infantry Brigade HQ in Vakare, Batticaloa for the benefit of both troops and civilians in the area was declared open by Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East at the invitation of Major General Shewanth Kulatunge, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division and Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, 233 Infantry Brigade Commander on Sunday (February 26).

Fulfilling a long-felt need of the 233 Infantry Brigade and the civil community in the area, the project was made a reality under the close supvision of Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, Commander, 233 Infantry Brigade due to valuable hard work and technical expertise of the troops of all under command Battalions in the 233 Infantry Brigade.

After cutting a ribbon and lighting of the traditional oil lamp, the day's Chief Guest had a close look at the entire facility complex where an ATM bank facility has also been installed and spoke to the troops manning services in the new complex.

Major General Shewanth Kulatunge, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Brigadier Wasantha Hewage, 233 Infantry Brigade Commander, Commanding Officers of 9 Sri Lanka Artillery, 6 Gajaba Regiment, 3 (V) Corps of Agriculture and Livestock and locals in the area were associated with the inaugural ceremony.
