23 Division Troops Donate Educational Accessories to Low Income Group Students


250 children from low income families in Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa Districts recently received free school books and accessories, following an initiative taken by 23 Division on the instructions of its General Officer Commanding, Brigadier Mahinda Mudalige.

Those recipients from all three major communities, Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim attended the brief ceremony that was held to mark the International Children’s Day on the same day before the donation of educational items took place.

All the children attending the ceremony with entertaining cultural features were given special refreshments including packets of milk on the same occasion.

Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - East, attended the distribution ceremony as the Chief Guest.

23 Division General Officer Commanding Brigadier Mahinda Mudalige, 23 Division Civil Affairs Coordinating Officer, Lieutenant Colonel M.H.H.L.S.K Weerasekara, several senior officers, teachers, parents and students took part in the arrangement.
