The annual Inter-Division cricket tournament of the Security Force Headquarters -East (SFHQ East) organized as a 10-over softball cricket tournament on Wednesday (Dec 14) at the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment Training School’s playground in Minneriya was vied by 5 well-trained teams.
The tournament was made possible under the guidance of Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, SFHQ (East), and under the close supervision of Major General Chanaka Mettananda, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area (East).
During the final encounter, 23 Infantry Division cricketers scored 144 runs for 05 wickets against their rivals in the 22 Division who could score only 68 runs for 8 wickets. The 23 Division team was accordingly declared as the champions while pushing the 22 Division to the runner-up slot.
The trophies were presented by the Commander, FMA (East) amid the cheering of a large crowd of spectators. General Officers Commanding 22, 23, and 24 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were among the spectators.
