25 students in Trincomalee Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya who shone in the Grade-5 scholarship examination were provided school accessories and educational aids by 221 Infantry Brigade troops of the 22 Infantry Division HQ under command to the Security Force HQ- East on Monday (27) through the sponsorship given by England-based ‘Chesnut Foundation’.
Dr Nadeeth Kaushalya, Chief Executive Officer of the charity organization provided the financial contribution for the success of the event. Lieutenant T. Thilakarathne coordinated the sponsorship of the philanthropist.
The event got underway at the school compound in the presence of parents, teachers and the principal. All those beneficiaries from low-income group families passed the Grade 5 scholarship examination and needed support to buy essentials for further studies.
The project was launched as per directions of the 221 Infantry Brigade Commander with the blessings of the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division.
Civil Affairs Officers of the 221 Infantry Brigade, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
