22 VIR Troops Organize Eye Camp for Civilians

Low income group civilians in Kallar and adjoining areas recently attended a special eye clinic, organized by 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops serving the 222 Brigade Headquarters at Jayanthigama, Kantale.

A group of eye surgeons and optometrists from peripheral hospitals and Kantale Base Hospital examined over 200 civilians, affected with vision and other related impairments and prescribed treatments accordingly.

The clinic at Somapura Sri Bodhi Rajarama Temple was served with refreshments by 22 VIR troops who also facilitated their transport back home on request. A similar project was launched last year too by the 22 VIR troops where spectacles were distributed.

The project, initiated by 22 VIR Commanding Officer Major B.D.R Budaagoda, received the blessings of Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, 222 Brigade Commander for the humanitarian arrangement.
