22 GR Troops Win First Place in Crop Cultivation Competition

To be in line with the ongoing National Food Production Campaign, ‘Jathika Ahara Sangramaya’, the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) launched a traditional food cultivation programme among all battalions under the SFHQ-W with the cooperation of Department of Agriculture & Livestock.

The programme, conducted by way of a competition among all battalions within 6 months selected 22 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops as best cultivators among all and were rewarded as per the judgement given by the Wanni branch of the Department of Agriculture & Livestock.

In the competition, organic cultivations grown by 22 GR troops were adjudged the best among all other battalions by the experts in the Department of Agriculture & Livestock.

Similarly, troops of the 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) battalion and 21 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) battalion troops respectively won second and third places in the competition.

Major General Kumudu Perera, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni as the Chief Guest, together with officials of the Department of Agriculture & Livestock gave away appreciative certificates and awards to winners in the cultivation competition.
