Major General Saliya Amunugama of the Gajaba Regiment (GR) assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 22 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - East, amid religious blessings at the 22 Division Headquarters in Trincomalee on Wednesday (5).
The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding of the 22 Division was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and saluted in a Guard Turnout, presented by troops as he entered the premises.
In his new office, the new GOC was invited to symbolically sign an official document to mark the assumption of his duties.
Later on, the new GOC in line with military formalities, addressed all Officers and Other Ranks where he expressed his vision for the Division in future.
Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of the 22 Division, Commanding Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present during the day's event.
