With a view to promoting Green Agriculture concept, the General Officer Commanding, 22 Division, Major General Sanath Aluvihare, Brigade Commanders of 221 and 223 Brigades, Colonel General Staff, 22 Division, Colonel Administration and Quartering, 22 Division, Civil Affairs Officer, 22 Division, Commanding Officers of 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, 15 Sri Lanka light Infantry, 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 5(V) Sri Lanka Artillery, 2(V) Gajaba Regiment and 17 Sri Lanka National Guard, together with the Director of Agriculture, Trincomalee, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Trincomalee, Commissioner Agriculture, Trincomalee and Provincial Manager ‘Lak Pohora’ on Monday (13) participated in a coordinating conference at the 22 Division HQ in order to explore possibilities for popularizing the use of organic manure in the area.
During the conference, a lengthy discussion occurred in regard to shortcomings, challenges, sharing of knowledge with government officials, identification of proper methods, etc.
Meanwhile, a special meeting on Green Agriculture and Organic Fertilizer process was held at the District Secretariat Conference Hall in Batticaloa on Thursday (16) with the participation of the General Officer Commanding of the 23 Division, Major General Nalin Koswatte and all state officials, including the District Secretary.
It was also meant to explore possibilities of popularizing Green Agriculture and Organic Fertilizer concept in the Batticaloa District.
