A student community-oriented project to provide vital drinking water to students of two leading schools in the Anuradhapura region was launched by the 211 Infantry Brigade of the 21 Infantry Division with sponsorship received by a private donor agency on Monday (Nov 14).
Bodyline Garments Industry Pvt Ltd after Brigadier Chaminda Wijayartne, Commander, 211 Infantry Brigade projected the exclusive need for it to some 195 students learning at Walpola Vidyalaya, offered its sponsorship for installation of this much-needed reverse osmosis plant that deminiralizes and purifies drinking water since drinking water in this area remains vulnerable to chronic kidney diseases (CKD).
Similarly, the same sponsorship extended assistance for repair of the existing water purification system at Irattaperiyakulam Perakum School at the invitation of Brigadier Chaminda Wijayartne, Commander, 211 Infantry Brigade as it remained defunct due to some technical defects. 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops threw their full weight behind the success of both projects.
Assistant Manager (Admin) of Bodyline Garments Pvt Ltd, Mr Chathura and his team, Commanding Officer of 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Civil Affairs Officer of 211 Infantry Brigade, Other Ranks and school authorities attended commissioning of both projects.
