In order to help alleviate hardships being experienced by farming communities and low-income group families in remote Lindawewa and Kapirikgama areas in Medawachchiya, the 211 Infantry Brigade of the 21 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni took steps to distribute 200 dry ration packs and 50 metal spade blades used for agricultural purposes among selected beneficiaries on Saturday (26).
The event was held in Kapirikgama Primary School premises on an initiative taken by Brigadier Chaminda Wijayaratne, Commander, 211 Infantry Brigade who also graced the distribution as the Chief Guest.
In response to the request of the 211 Infantry Brigade, a Singapore-based Buddhist monk, Ven Sumana Thero and Mrs Sunil Wijayawardene, the President, ‘Sarana’ foundation in Kadawatha came forward to sponsor the supplies.
The commanding officer of 2 (v) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Second In Command of 14 Sri Lanka Artillery, Civil Affairs Officer of the 211 Infantry Brigade and 211 Infantry Brigade troops cooperated with this community-oriented project.
