21 Division with ‘Manusath Derana’ Launches Relief Projects for Civilians

Multiple welfare projects for the benefit of civil community in the general area of Medawachchiya were launched on Saturday (26) by 21 Division troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in collaboration with the ‘Manusath Derana’ TV programme at Pahala Galkandegama School in Medawachchiya.

The day’s programme included the conduct of a medical clinic to diagnose chronic kidney diseases, donation of spectacles for 350 civilians with eyesight defects, provision of 50 dry ration packs for pregnant women, distribution of solar panels for 10 selected destitute families and donation of school items for students at Pahala Galakandegama Vidyalaya.

The project was coordinated by Brigadier Lal Wijethunga, Commander, 211 Brigade with the blessings of Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W).

At the invitation of the General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Major General Kumar Jayapathirane, Chairman of ‘Manusath Derena’ project, Mr Mahesh Jayawardena, Director Health Services, North Central Province, Mr Palitha Bandara, Divisional Secretaries for Medawachchiya and Vavuniya South, members of the Institute of International Health Science Education, members of Sri Lanka Eye Donors’ Association, staff members of Moven Pick Hotel, Brigade Commanders under the 21 Division and Engineers Brigade, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers of under command battalions to 21 Division and recipient civilians in Medawachchiya and nearby areas joined the occasion.
