207 New Recruits Pass Out from SLARTC in Henanigala & Join Regiments

The Passing out Parade (POP) of the Recruits Course No - 37 at the Sri Lanka Army Recruits Training Center (SLARTC) got underway on 17 December at the SLARTC in Henanigala.

Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Lieutenant Colonel Hasitha Welikanna, SLARTC Commandant.

207 recruits in the Recruits Course No - 37 continued for 6 months and gave them the training in drills, field craft, basic tactics, physical training, map reading, and sports, etc. Those recruits were subsequently posted to Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Gajaba Regiment and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and parents watched the day’s proceedings.

Following Officers and recruits received special awards under different categories as follows;

Best Platoon Commander- Second Lieutenant B.M.C.D Jayasundara of Sri Lanka National Guard,

Best Platoon Sergeant - Sergeant H.D.I Pushpakumara

Best Section Commander - Corporal J.D.S Jayakody

Best Physical Training Instructor - Corporal M.M.S Somarathna

Best Shot - Recruit M.P.T.A Wikramarathna

Best Fittest Soldier - Recruit Y.M.S.P Kumara
