To coincide with the 14th Anniversary of the 18 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops serving Dambegoda, Maligawila area, 75 Officers and Other Ranks donated their blood to the Blood Bank at Moneragala Hospital on Thursday (17).
The gesture was organized as per guidelines given by the 121 Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier Janaka Udowita under the directions of Major General Mihidu Perera, General Officer Commanding, 12 Infantry Division. The Blood Bank at Moneragala Hospital turned to the Army for assistance as the blood stocks in the hospital were found inadequate for surgeries.
Major R.M Pathiraja, Commanding Officer, 18 Gemunu Watch organized the donation in the camp premises, together with his troops.
Major D.D Lokusinghearachchi, Second in Command, 18 Sri Lanka Gemunu Watch closely coordinated the community project.
