All members of the 17 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the 561 Brigade of the 56 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) taking an own initiative with the intention of assisting the needy in Nedunkerni area in Mankulam organized a distribution of 25 dry ration packets on 2 July 2022.
Each dry ration pack, worth Rs 2500 consisted of rice, dhal, spices, soya meat, etc was carried to their doorsteps and delivered to those deserving families, living around the camp. Troops volunteered to foot the cost of those relief packs on their own after they saw difficulties and hardships of those poor people who have been badly affected due to the prevailing economic crisis.
Lieutenant Colonel B.L.R Jayasundara, Commanding officer, Officers and other ranks of 17 (V) VIR joined the project.
