17 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI) troops of 651 Infantry Brigade under the 65 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-Wanni (SFHQ-W) with the objective of promoting green agriculture distributed 1000 coconut saplings among 200 families, resident in the general area of Alankulam, Thunukkai on Tuesday (2 May).
The Coconut Development Authority, Mullaitvu office at the request of the Army provided 1000 coconut saplings for distribution among those families. The project saw each family receiving 5 saplings
Major M. H. M. J Premathilake, Commanding Officer 17 (V) SLLI on behalf of the Commander 651 Infantry Brigade and the General Officer Commanding 65 Infantry Division gave away those saplings after inviting the beneficiaries to the entrance at the 17 (V) SLLI camp.
