Barathipuram area-based 17 (V) Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 571 Brigade of the 57 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) recently carried out several community-oriented welfare projects in close coordination with civilians in the area.
A ‘Shramadana’ project launched in the area resulted in the renovation of the road leading to Annai Sarada Devi School in Barathipuram area at first since the road remained badly damaged or worn out with lots of potholes for some time.
Soldiers conducted the renovation work enabling the road motarable under the supervision of Major S.M.G Somathilake, Commanding Officer, 17 (V) Gajaba Regiment during the day’s project.
Similarly, troops joined hands with civilians to clean up surroundings of the Amman Kovil in Barathipuram.
