17 SLNG Troops-Built New House for Kuchchaveli Family Warmed During Brief Ceremony

Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, the new Commander, Security Forces - East attending his first community-oriented project out vested a newly-constructed house in a needy family at Kuchchaveli, Nilaveli in Trincomalee during his maiden field visit to the 17 Sri Lanka National Guard camp on 7 June 2022.

After miserable condition of the family of Mr W Kelum Krichantha Duminda Peiris living in Kuchchaveli area was observed by Army troops serving in the respective area under the Security Forces Headquarters - East, troops initiated the humanitarian project with the financial sponsorship, provided by Mr Jayasanka Perera and Mrs Madusha Perera, based in Australia. 17 Sri Lanka National Guard troops built the house using their technical and engineering skills within a few months.

On the day of warming of the new house, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Commander, SF-East who graced the occasion as the chief guest handed over keys of the new house to the beneficiaries amid 'Seth Pirith' chanted by monks to bless the occasion.

General Officer Commanding of the 22 Division Major General Sanath Aluvihare, Colonel Anurudda Solangarachchi, Commander 221 Brigade, Commanding Officer, 17 SLNG, family members of beneficiaries, troops and several villagers were associated with the inauguration.
